The Correct Way to Care for Coated Wood Flooring
Common sense tells us that we need to take care of high-quality hardwood flooring if we want it to maintain its appearance. If you want your wood flooring to last a long time, you need to take care of the surface, or it can quickly develop a used look.
Given its versatility and longevity, wood has been used for flooring for decades. Its character can change over time, but wood flooring can maintain its strength indefinitely when it’s cared for correctly. We compiled some helpful tips for you to make sure the wood flooring in your commercial facility lasts as long as possible.
- Avoid moisture on your coated wood flooring as much as possible. If liquid does spill onto the surface, mop it up quickly.
- Protect the wood flooring if hot, wet, colored, or sharp objects are going to be used in its vicinity.
- Wood is sensitive to light and can lose its vibrant color, so make sure to protect your flooring if it is in line with direct sunlight.
- Make sure any radiator or heater is a good distance from the wood flooring.
How to Clean Wood Flooring
Don’t use cleaning solutions that contain alkaline reagents, since they may damage your flooring. First, clean the coated wood surface with a soft, slightly soapy cloth. After that, wipe away excess moisture with a dry, clean cloth. You can occasionally apply a wood polish, but you don’t need to do this often. Cleaning products that contain silicone will prevent moisture and dirt from affecting the surface of your flooring, but they may make lacquering difficult.
